The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
