Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
